uberMZANZI IS SPREADING THE GEES THIS HERITAGE DAY!

This Heritage Day, 24 September 2014, Uber is partnering with proudly South African musicians to bring our #UberFam something completely different.

While standing around the coals on Heritage Day aka National Braai Day, surprise your friends and family with an impromptu live performance! Yes that’s right, normally we would take you to-and-from the party, but on this special day we’re bringing the party to your very own doorstep.

Cape Town, Durban and Joburg, will each have three lucky riders who will receive the star-treatment on Heritage Day. How does it work? Open your uber app and request your city’s performance: you may be lucky the first time, but if not and it says: ‘No Cars Available’, keep trying and you could win a 15 minute performance by local greats.

A troop of 14 colourful, gees-full Cape Minstrel Singers are on order in Cape Town for a traditional throw-down—in your very own backyard. Joburg winners can look forward to a soulful performance by the multi-award winning and globally renowned Soweto Gospel Choir! While, in Durban, Young Mbazo (the grandchildren of Ladysmith Black Mbazo) bring their unique sound, vibe and energy to each of the Durban winners’ locations. This is one braai you won’t soon forget.

More? Spreading even more #UberGees the performers will also host a show at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital (Cape Town), Itlhokomeleng Association for Aged and Disabled Persons (Joburg) and Graceland nursing home (Durban).
