Webber Surf Pool – South Africa on the cards

There has been a bit of talk lately about a new wave pool possibly coming to South Africa in the near future, while getting completely sidetracked on youtube I came across this clip uploaded way back in Nov 2010, but it had some recent comments flying around, one which was quite interesting….

“The world is so different in the daylight. In the dark, your fantasies get so out of hand…”

A stilt-walker lopes past and his head in the clouds is lit briefly by a burst of flame as the fire-breathers ply their trade. The poi dancers are illuminated too as they swing weights in a mesmerising geometrics.

It’s Carnival at Orphanage Cocktail Emporium on the corner of Bree and Orphan Streets in Cape Town on Saturday 25 January 2014.

Descend into a world of colour and crazy for an evening of carnival swing beats and artisan cocktails amidst surreal performances.

Conducting the ceremony of crazy will be Musical Maestro “Mike Play”, who will preside over the party animals with cutting edge swing beats commencing in the eventide at 09pm; remember monkey business is not only allowed, but encouraged.

Tip: Start off the evening with dinner in Orphanage’s Dining Room.

The Hurly Burly Extravaganza every Friday at Orphanage

Step right up, step right up! This way! It’s The Hurly Burly Extravaganza at Orphanage Cocktail Emporium taking place every Friday from 4:30pm.  If work is the curse of the drinking classes, then surely dancing is the reward?

Loosen the ties and ladder the pantyhose—simply banish office frumpty for whirlwind of colour and crazy. Come on down to the corner of Orphan and Bree Streets in Cape Town to be treated to a burlesque performance with welcome canapés and cocktails—and the entrance is most positively complimentary.

The performers from Black Orchid have been billed as ‘slightly naughty’ and promise a show incorporating a variety of genres from ‘Traditional Classic Burlesque to what is now commonly known as Neo-Burlesque or Caburlesque’. The dancers weave a quixotic tale using ‘sensual self-expression, dance, the art of tease and decadent costumes with gimmicks, props or bawdy humour’.

And there is live musical entertainment too. Leighton Moody will blend Deep Soulful House with Nu Jazz and hip hop. And taking you into the night is Orphanage’s resident DJ, JanuaryOne: purveyor of fine dance music.

Your Dues:

It’s complimentary you dear things!

Liquid Soul
After many years of producing in the studio and performing at big raves and festivals alongside artists like Tiesto and Armin van Buuren, Nicola Capobianco decided to start a new project and Liquid Soul was born. Being behind the best-selling albums on Iboga Records as Liquid Soul (with Synthetic Vibes, Love in Stereo and Cocktail), having over 100 releases on top labels and playing worldwide over a decade has made him one of the absolute top names in his genre! Liquid Soul is constantly sought after all around the globe. The success won him the Beatport award for the best psy-trance track in 2009. In 2010 he won one of the best Beatport artists, best Beatport track and the Dj Awards in Ibiza in psy-trance categories.

After playing live at countless parties and releasing numerous summer hits, NOK finally released his debut album, New Order. Like a distillation product of Alex’s 12-year studio experience, this work represents an innovative fusion of his different styles and musical skills. New Order includes deep, rolling productions and complex melody compositions. Tracks such as Breaking Point or New World Order transform the power and rich atmosphere of harder sounds, into sleek Progressive grooves.

Yotopia is the electronic musical project by Yonatan Rimon & Tomer Dayan from Israel.
They started their professional musical carrier at the year 2002. Their debut albumPoint Blank was released at 2005 on Flow Records from Portugal and became a huge success, supported by top dj’s and fans all over the globe and is considered to be a classic .  They performed around the world, wowing dance floors on major stages such as Boom festival (Portugal) / Tshitraka & Indian Spirit festivals (Germany) /Symbiosis Festival (SF-USA) / Aurora (Greece) / e-concert (Brazil) / Universo Parallelo (Brazil) / Radiance (Mexico) & many others, playing live performances and uplifting DJ sets.

At the year 2009, Yotopia released their 2nd album at one of the leading labels of the progressive scene, Iboga rec.
In this album they matured their sound and blurred the lines between techno, progressive and trance. The result was stunning!
