Splashy Fen 2012

With just over 2 weeks to go till Splashy Fen 2012, you best be getting your camping stuff together and make sure you have your tickets ready for whats set to be another amazing weekend up in the mountains.

This years lineup of artists is one of the best I have seen in a good few years with the likes of Zebra & Giraffe, E.X.P.L.O.S.I.O.N, Gangs of Ballet and The La Els just to name a few.

I must say the best entertainment seems planned for Thursday and Saturday night, but don’t be mistaken, the acts on the remaining days are just as good. Just my personal preference leads me to prefer the aforementioned.

Here is a brief summary of last years Splashy Fen, put together by our resident videographer, Teight Productions.

‘Established in 1990, Splashy Fen is South Africa’s longest-running music festival, which every Easter attracts thousands of people to a farm near Underberg in KwaZulu-Natal for a unique outdoor music experience.
The next festival takes place from 5 to 9 April 2012 and will once again offer a four-day line-up of some of the country’s hottest acts, top-class sound and lighting, plus a wide choice of outdoor leisure activities for the whole family. Add to that the beautiful scenery of the southern Drakensberg, an abundance of different food and drink outlets, colourful arts and crafts, a crèche and children’s entertainment programme, as well as various camping and accommodation options and you’re set for a winner of a long weekend!
Splashy Fen has something for everyone; in fact there’s nothing else in South Africa quite like it!
Well known artists who have performed at Splashy Fen over the years include: Syd Kitchen, Tony Cox, Steve Newman, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Vusi Mahlasela, Koos Kombuis, Shawn Phillips, Hinds Brothers, Madala Kunene, Neill Solomon, Landscape Prayers, Tananas, Just Jinjer, Hothouse Flowers, Tree63, Dan Patlansky, Watershed, Springbok Nude Girls, The Parlotones, Prime Circle and Chris Chameleon, to name but a few.’ Excerpt from Wikipedia.
