Justin Bieber tattoos his tattoo artist

So from our side we don’t really think much of biebs, but with him coming to SA soon, we figured we’d give him some airtime.

What do you think of his new skill, would you get a tat by bieber… even if you aren’t a belieber?

The Canadian pop star could face up to a $2,000 fine for inking a cartoon portrait of a muscular mouse with the word ‘Swaggy’ on the famous tattoo artist’s leg. Justin swapped his microphone for a needle to embellish friend and tattoo artist Bang Bang, real name Keith McCurdy, with the new design.

Chevelle due to visit South Africa

Chevelle? makes the promised comeback! See them on their two stop Arena tour in May and June 2013.

Hilltop Live presents, the Platinum-selling alternative act Chevelle Live in SA in association with Monster Energy and Sounds Good. The American rock trio will be rocking Cape Town at the Grand Arena, GrandWest on Friday 31 May, and Johannesburg at The Big Top Arena, Carnival City on Sunday 2 June, bringing their iconic alternative sound to your ears.

Living up to the postponement promise that was made back in 2011 when the band was unable to make it to Oppikoppi Unknown Brother, the band is thrilled to finally have found dates that work for South Africa.

For Chevelle, 2012 was filled with intense touring, sold out concerts and the release of their sixth full-length album Hats Off to the Bull: which scored the group one of their biggest career hits with the explosive single “Face to The Floor”. Most artists with over 12 years in the music industry lose their initial fire, but Chevelle burn brighter than ever on Hats Off to the Bull. Rather than simply subscribing to a tried-and-true formula, they made a conscious effort to incorporate new sounds and textures into their patented airtight anthems. As a result, the group composed its most infectious, intriguing, and impressive offering to date. In December 2012 the group released their first-ever collection of hits – Stray Arrows-A Collection Of Favourites

Of their postponement announcement in 2011 Chevelle said “Obviously everyone is really disappointed; there was such enthusiasm and support from all over South Africa and it’s a country we all wanted to see. But we will get there soon.” – soon has become now.

Limited tickets are available from Computicket at 09:00 on April 3rd, act now and avoid disappointment.

Dave Grohl’s SXSW 2013 Keynote Speech

Dave Grohl…. I dont really think I even have to say any more than just that, if you are confused then well…… I feel a little sorry for you.

Its plain and simple, i fucking love this guy !

Watch Roger Young cock up an interview with Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath

So we came across this interview proudly posted by the local varient of Rolling Stone Magazine. Why on earth they let this go public, heaven alone knows.

Watch as Roger Young makes a fool of himself and, quite frankly South Africa as a whole. I dont know the bloke, but either he is a beer short of a six pack or he has had a few six packs before the interview. Total unprofessionalism.

Next time, let us do the interview, thanks.

Must give huge Cred to Tim for actually putting up with this crap and answering the drivel that Mr young threw at him.

As quoted from Rolling Stone Magazines website

Rolling Stone’s Roger Young caught up with Tim McIlrath, lead singer and guitarist of Rise Against, at RAMFest on Saturday to chat about the relationship between activism and music. They also touched on some sociopolitical issues and discussed Rise Against’s entertainment value.

Here is the youtube clip below, let us know your thoughts, feedback on Ramfest and Rolling Stone facebook pages has been far from favourable.

And now the ‘modified; version censoring out Roger

Data Romance – Debut Album out TODAY

A Note From Data Romance:

“Forgive me if this comes off sounding at all conceited, but I’m really proud of this record. We were able to take the time to record some truly amazing musicians on violin and cello, drums and percussion, harp, rhodes and organs, and a full choir in a church. On top of that we were able to have it all mixed by the amazing Michael Patterson who’s credits are staggering, but recently include the Social Network and GWTDT soundtrack. Finally the art was done by a team that have pioneered amazing visuals for Modeselektor and Moderat; the incredible PFADFINDEREI. Bands of our modest exposure typically don’t get to make records like this any more, and we’d like to thank our label SQE and Dine Alone Records for their unparalleled support. We are so happy to finally get this album out to you, and I think it’s our best work to date, but I guess I might be a little biased. Enjoy.”

Data Romance – Other

okay, so if you ride anything with two wheels and appreciate good cinematography, you must have watched, or at least heard of “Life Cycles” within the last year of your life. If you have not watched it……….please, spare a moment to check out this amazing collaboration of film and dirt even if you have no interest of riding, you have to appreciate what has been done with this.

With that said, if you HAVE seen the film and are as blown away by it as I was, you already like the band I am about to introduce to you.

Data Romance, owning a good portion of the Life Cycles incredible soundtrack are “Ajay Bhattacharyya and Amy Kirkpatrick, both 25, first came together two years ago in their hometown of Victoria on Canada’s Vancouver Island. Kirkpatrick had moved to Vancouver proper, where she started using her training to do lights for the city’s biggest clubs. Bhattacharyya, meanwhile, had come to the city to study sound design for film. From the circuit-bending tonalities mirroring Nine Inch Nails to the feminine aspect evoking the mystical eroticism of Lykke Li” – as explained from their facebook profile.

I found it incredibly hard not to turn up the volume and just appreciate the blend that these two throw out. I own the Data Romance – EP that has already been released along with a couple of the remixes and cant wait for their next instalment titled “other” available on their website

Here is one of the videos off the EP titled – Bones.

Speculation and a new Single – Paramore

Not sure how many people saw this posted on Paramore’s Facebook page, but we thought it was a little strange.
Why would Paramore show some sort of vested interest in South Africa of all places, I mean we know SA is great and all, but bands rarely show any interest in our sunny shores. What made it seem extra fishy was hearing Paramore’s latest single playing on 5fm early this morning. We all know 5fm is in with Big Concerts on all the big international acts. But then again maybe we are just reading too far into this. Let us know what you think, or if you heard from your friend’s connection’s uncle’s grandmother’s nephew….
